About Bacteriostatic Water

Bacteriostatic water (BWI) is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative, manufactured under USP-grade standards to ensure consistent sterility and endotoxin-free composition. The benzyl alcohol preservative inhibits microbial growth, allowing the vial to be used for multiple withdrawals over a 28-day period — a critical advantage over single-use sterile water when reconstituting lyophilized peptides across multi-dose research protocols.

Proper reconstitution technique is fundamental to maintaining peptide integrity and research reproducibility. Bacteriostatic water should be introduced slowly along the interior wall of the lyophilized peptide vial, allowing the cake to dissolve gradually without agitation or vortexing, which can denature fragile peptide structures through shear stress. The resulting solution should be clear and free of particulate matter before use.
